Does You Does? TV Adverts

Does you does or does you don’t take Access? The Aardman adverts, 1989–93.

1989

After the iconic Access and Money adverts, the next most memorable must surely be “Does you does or does you don’t?”, based on Louis Jordan’s 1944 song Is You Is or Is You Ain’t My Baby? All of the Does You Does adverts were made by the agency Gold Greenlees Trott and produced by Rose Hackney/Aardman Animations. Here, a couple in a restaurant have racked up a pretty stiff bill.

  • The restaurant bill caused frustration,
  • I couldn’t pay for my crustacean,
  • But flexible… is so digestible…
  • Does you does or does you don’t take Access?
  • Does you does or does you don’t take Access?

End voiceover by Paul Nicholas.

  • I phoned so I could expedite,
  • It wasn’t hard… I just flexed my card…
  • Does you does or does you don’t take Access?

The last in the series is slightly different. It’s more musical, and ends with a new slogan, spoken in what now seems a rather condescending tone… Doesn’t everyone?
